The round in five steps

  1. 1. Pick your total bet

Use the panel under the reels to set a stake between 20 and 1,800 on the demo scale. Start low: the game is rated high volatility, 4 of 5, and the quiet stretches are real.
  2. 2. Spin the five reels

The grid is 5x4, five reels by four rows. One tap on the spin button is the whole interaction, and the jackpot ladder stays on screen throughout.
  3. 3. Read the 40 paylines

Combinations pay from the leftmost reel to the right, and only the highest combination on each line is paid. Eleven symbols pay in total.
  4. 4. Watch the special symbols

They land anywhere and carry multipliers from 1x to 100x. The collector sweeps all of them on screen into one payout, so they are worth tracking separately from the lines.
  5. 5. Open Hold and Win

Six special and/or Jackpot symbols in a combination start the respin round with 3 respins. Everything locks, and the four fixed jackpots become live.

Serengeti Sunrise: the round explained

From the stake slider to the last respin, with the arithmetic that makes each choice concrete.

Picking your bet#

Everything in this slot is measured in multiples of your bet, which makes the stake decision the only one that changes the whole session. The total bet runs from 20 to 1,800 on the demo scale, and each casino maps that ladder onto its own currency, so the safest way to think about it is in ratios instead of sums.

Total betBonus buy at 80xMini jackpot at 500xGrand jackpot at 3,000x
201,60010,00060,000
1008,00050,000300,000
50040,000250,0001,500,000
1,800144,000900,0005,400,000

Read the table as a pair of consequences. Moving from 20 to 100 multiplies your Mini jackpot by five, and it multiplies the price of a bonus buy by five as well. Nothing in the game gets cheaper as you climb, and nothing changes shape: the same round costs the same number of spins’ worth of stake at every level.

The fourth row is there for scale, not for advice. At the top of the range a single bonus buy costs 144,000 credits, which is more than a Mini jackpot pays at a stake of 100. Most readers will spend their whole time in the first two rows, and that is the correct place to be while the hit rate is still an abstraction to you.

The practical advice for a first session is boring and correct. Choose a stake that lets you take at least a hundred spins without flinching, because at 15.99% hit frequency a hundred spins is a small sample in a high volatility game. If your budget only supports twenty spins at your chosen stake, the stake is too high. The maths page lays the numbers out at four different levels.

How the paylines pay#

The grid is five reels by four rows, and 40 fixed paylines run across it. Combinations pay from the leftmost reel to the right, and only the highest combination on each line is paid, so two overlapping wins on the same line do not add up. Eleven symbols pay in total.

The ladder runs from the elephant at 50x for five of a kind down to the jack at 2x, and at a total bet of 20 that reads as 1,000 credits against 40 for the same five positions. That gap is the whole character of the game, and it explains why a session can be flat for a long time and then move all at once. The features page carries the complete table if you want every rung of it.

The lion is the Wild, and it is the symbol a new player should learn to spot first. It substitutes for all regular symbols and it lands stacked four high, which on a four-row grid means it can fill a reel completely. What that does to a line lands better as arithmetic than as a description, so here is one line of four elephants plus one more position, at a total bet of 20.

That fifth position holdsThe line paysAs a multiple of the bet
Nothing matching50025x
A fifth elephant1,00050x
A wild lion, standing in for it1,00050x

The point of the third row is that the lion turns a four-symbol win into a five-symbol one without the fifth elephant ever appearing, and it does it on a stack four positions tall, so it can do the same thing on several of the 40 lines at once. It also pays 50x for five of its own, which puts it level with the elephant at the top of the table.

The special symbols work outside this system entirely. They ignore the paylines, pay wherever they land, and feed the collector. That is why the board is worth reading in two passes: lines first, specials second. The features page goes through every symbol in detail.

Hold and Win, step by step#

This is the part of the game worth learning properly, because it behaves differently from the free spins rounds most slots use.

  1. Land six. A combination of 6 special and/or Jackpot symbols opens the round.
  2. Take three respins. The counter starts at 3 and ticks down with each spin that adds nothing.
  3. Reset it. Every new symbol that appears sends the counter back to 3, which is how a round stretches well beyond three spins.
  4. Watch them stick. All special and Jackpot symbols lock in place for the rest of the round.
  5. Ignore the lines. During the round only the special and Jackpot symbols pay; the animals and royals sit this one out.
  6. Let the collector work. It gathers the payouts of the special symbols and, inside the bonus, clears them off the board so new symbols have somewhere to land.
  7. Reach the end. The round closes once the respin counter reaches zero, or the moment the reels are completely full.

The jackpots live inside this round. Two Jackpot symbols already award the Mini at 500x, which on a stake of 20 is 10,000 credits: exactly ten winning lines of five elephants, from two symbols instead of fifty. Three symbols award the Minor at 1,000x, four the Major at 2,000x, five the Grand at 3,000x. Since a round is capped at 5,000x the bet, even a Grand leaves headroom for the special symbol multipliers to fill, and those run as high as a hundred times the bet on a symbol whose standard value is already ten times it.

The extra spins here are the Hold and Win respins, and the counter resets with every new symbol. If you came looking for a free spins round, this is it, with the board frozen in your favour instead of a multiplier trail.

Eleven paying symbols and a table you can read in one pass: open it at the casino.

Reading the paytable like a player, not a tourist#

A paytable is usually read once, from the top row down, and the top row is the least useful line on it.

Start at the other end. Three symbols is where the pace of your session comes from: three elephants pay 200 credits at a total bet of 20, three rhinos 100, three cheetahs 80, three zebras 60, and down among the cards it runs 50, 40, 30 and 20 for aces, kings, queens and jacks. Three jacks return exactly your stake, which is the definition of a spin that keeps you in the chair without moving the balance.

The four-symbol wins are the middle ground, and they are what makes an evening feel decent: 500 for four elephants, 200 for four rhinos, 150 for four cheetahs, 80 for four zebras. On a 40-line grid these turn up often enough to matter.

Only then the five-symbol row, which everybody reads first and needs last: 1,000 credits for five elephants or five wild lions at a stake of 20, and 40 for five jacks. As multiples of the bet that is 50x down to 2x, and those multiples hold at any stake you choose.

Here is the practical use of all this. Before you raise your stake, work out what a three-symbol win is worth at the new level and ask whether it still feels like anything. At a stake of 20, three jacks return 20 and barely register. At a stake of 200 the same combination returns 200, which is a real amount of money moving for a result the game considers trivial. That is the moment to check your budget, not the moment to celebrate.

The special symbols sit on a separate scale that runs from one times the bet up to a hundred times it, with the standard one valued at 200 credits on a total bet of 20, ten times what the spin cost. The top of that scale pays 2,000 credits at the same stake, twice the best line in the base game. That inversion, where a single symbol outranks a full payline, is the heart of the design, and the features page prints every step of the scale.

Autoplay and the pace of a session#

Autoplay is in the settings, and it carries three controls: how many rounds to run, how far down the balance may go before it stops, and how far up. The round count is the one that gets filled in first and it is the least important of the three. The count decides how long you sit there; the other two decide what the session costs.

Put numbers in those fields before you press start, because they are easier to choose in advance than mid-run. At a total bet of 20, a loss limit of 2,000 credits is a hundred spins of stake, and a win limit of 2,000 is met by two five-elephant lines at 1,000 each, or by one 100x special symbol on its own; at a total bet of 100 those same 2,000 credits are only twenty spins, which is why both fields have to be set against the stake and not against a round number that feels comfortable. Pick them against the balance you brought, then set the round count so the run cannot outlive them: 400 spins at a stake of 20 is 8,000 credits of exposure, which is also the price of five bonus buys at 80x. Whichever of the three fields is reached first ends the run, and that is the point of filling in all of them.

In a game rated high volatility at 4 of 5, with 15.99% of spins landing a win, the loss limit is the control that protects a bankroll from a cold run. Set it as a number you are content to lose before you press start, not as a figure you revise while the reels are turning. The win limit matters just as much: a Hold and Win round that pays well is a good moment to stop, and autoplay will happily feed it back into the base game if you let it.

Pace is worth a thought too. The base game is the waiting room and the respin round is the payoff, so long autoplay runs at a modest stake usually suit this slot better than short bursts at a high one. The strategy page turns that into an actual plan with stake levels attached, and you can rehearse all of it in the free demo before any of it costs anything.

Pick a total bet, spin the five reels and collect on the 40 paylines, which pay from left to right with only the highest combination on each line counting.
What is the minimum bet?
20 on the demo scale, which each casino maps onto its own currency ladder. The maximum is 1,800 on the same scale.
How do you enter the bonus?
With a combination of 6 special and/or Jackpot symbols. That is the only trigger in the game.
